We are pleased to introduce Anthony Noberini, who serves as the design director at Iconix Brand Group for all the home brands, including Waverly.  Anthony’s background is in textile design for home products which includes domestics, lamps, mirrors, dinnerware, rugs and home accessories.  For Waverly, he oversees the design development for the brand’s licensees.

1. What is your first memory of wanting to become a designer?

My earliest memory of wanting to design are from grade school. The class was given an art assignment of doing something creative with our first and last name and I remember creating a pattern design with my name . This was way before I ever knew all about textile/surface design.

2. What inspires you?

So, so much!!! Inspiration can come as easily as opening a magazine or watching the latest box office hit to taking a trip to a museum or local gallery. I have walked down the streets of NY, grabbing lunch, to find color, pattern and textural design right under my nose. We all need to be constantly inspired and with umpteen flash sites, home blogger sites and Pinterest, none of us have an excuse for not being inspired.

3. What is your favorite vacation spot?

That is a tough question! If I had to choose one place it would have to be the east end of Long Island. It is a magical place where you can find tranquility and peace. The daylight is simply amazing in the early morning and being on some of the most beautiful beaches on the East coast is just perfect, it doesn’t get much better.

4. What is your most prized possession?

I have a small collection of painting by various artists, including myself, that I simply treasure. I never grow tired of viewing them, they make me happy.

5. What is your favorite email stationery design in your collection?

My favorite has to be ‘Sea Scallop’, it is a pattern with an organic, modern appeal in a coloration of  aqua, pear, navy and an oyster white. I liked it enough to have some cushions made for outdoor entertaining. (see photo). I think this design may be one of Sharron Gaffney’s favorite designs too!!
